Community PRP Empowerment Session 2021

While the evolved pharmacy profession offers diverse roles and careers in health sectors, several pharmacy students show interest to work as the healthcare front-liner in neighbourhood pharmacies, either full-time or part-time, in this setting at some stage. Fresh pharmacy graduates in Malaysia currently have the flexibility to select their provisionally registered pharmacist (PRP) training in either government or private training premises, such as community pharmacy, which the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia recognises. Different training modules have been developed to cater to different needs in various settings. Yet, we could still adopt some valuable practices and apply them to others.

PRP training is inherently difficult, together with the fact not all of the PRPs have the luxury to receive as much learning support and resources from their peers and seniors depending on the settings that they are in. Some junior PRPs might still be finding a way to juggle their job, learning and passion. Hence, there is a compelling necessity for us here in MPS-YPC to develop a supplementary training platform that provides additional learning opportunities in another supportive learning environment.

This Community PRP Empowerment Session (CPEs) training module arranges the selected PRPs with the chance to approach learning counselling skills differently, as a junior seeking to learn more through feedback in a group. The first batch of the programme started in May 2021 and expected to complete by December 2021.
